Semana Santa, cont'd


A small example of what is called an 'alfombra,' a carpet that the processions walk over the top of. Alfombras are made of dyed sawdust.


One of the many small children who are chosen by their parents to carry the heavy platform. All of the boys and adults are dressed in black; the little girls are dressed in white.


Each parishioner carries a metal rod that they used when the group needed to take a rest, or when they changed rotations.


One of the idols. I think this is Mary, the mother of Jesus.


Here are the women. Unfortunately, this picture doesn't show that well, but many of the women were wearing very HIGH heels. Yikes!
